The shortlist for the T S Eliot Prize for Poetry 2014 has just been announced!

  • Pascale Petit fauverie (Seren)
  • Kevin Powers Letter Composed During a Lull in the Fighting (Sceptre)
  • Arundhathi Subramaniam When God is a Traveller (Bloodaxe)
  • Hugo Williams I Knew the Bride (Faber)

The judges of this year’s Prize are Helen Dunmore, Fiona Sampson and Sean Borodale. To mark the 50th anniversary of T S Eliot’s death on 4 February 2015, the T S Eliot Estate has increased the value of the Prize to £20,000. The T S Eliot Prize Shortlist Readings will take place in the Royal Festival Hall on Sunday 11 January 2015 and the winner of the 2014 Prize will be announced at an award ceremony on Monday 12 January 2015. Last year’s winner was Sinéad Morrissey for her collection Parallax (Carcanet).

Get involved

The Poetry Book Society has an exciting opportunity for reading groups to get involved with the 2014 T S Eliot Prize by discussing the poetry on the shortlist. Share your thoughts about this year’s Prize by sending a short write-up of your discussion (up to 300 words) to [email protected] by 16 December. Tell them who you think should win, who came close, and any key discussions or disagreements your group may have had.

Prizes

  • Up to 10 tickets for your reading group to attend the 2014 T S Eliot Prize Readings at London’s Royal Festival Hall on 11 January 2015*
  • A visit to your group from one of the 10 shortlisted poets
    *Accommodation and travel costs are not covered.
