Next Generation Poets 2014

The Poetry Book Society has announced its list of Next Generation Poets 2014. These 20 poets are chosen only once every ten years and are expected to dominate the poetry landscape of the coming decade. The accolade has previously recognised Carol Ann Duffy and Simon Armitage. This decade’s list includes performance poet Kate Tempest; the youngest ever T S Eliot Prize winner, Jen Hadfield; and five-time winner of the Foyle Young Poets Award, Helen Mort.

Get involved

Each poet has made three poems and specially commissioned reading group discussion notes available to download. Video readings and blog posts from the poets, and from poet, broadcaster and chair of the judges, Ian McMillan will also be made available in the months leading up to the formal celebration in March 2015.

Read the poems, see the poets’ list in full, and download the exclusive Reading Group notes here.
